Metal Sanding Machine

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1 What are the common types of metal deburring machines and how do they work?

Depending on the workpiece characteristics and application, common deburring systems include:

Belt / Wheel Brush / Disc Brush Deburring Machine

The most common type for sheet metal processing. Abrasive belts, disc brushes, or rotary brushes rotate at high speed and use controlled mechanical abrasion to remove burrs and sharp edges. This type is particularly suitable for flat metal sheets and large workpieces.

Vibratory Deburring Machine

Metal parts are placed in a vibratory bowl or tub together with specialized abrasive media. High-frequency vibration causes the workpieces and media to rub against each other, making this method suitable for small, complex-shaped parts and high-volume production.

Q2 Will a deburring machine damage the surface of the workpiece?

With the correct machine configuration, abrasive selection, and processing parameters, the workpiece surface can be effectively protected.

For irregularly shaped parts or die-cast aluminum components, modern deburring systems can use a floating spindle or floating grinding head.

This design provides flexible pressure control and automatically adjusts the grinding force according to variations in the workpiece surface. It focuses the abrasive action on the burrs while minimizing excessive grinding of the workpiece itself, helping maintain dimensional accuracy and surface flatness.

Q3 When processing small parts, how can I prevent the workpieces from moving or being thrown out?

There are two main solutions:

A. Magnetic Worktable – For Ferrous Metals

A magnetic worktable uses magnetic force to securely hold ferrous metal workpieces such as iron and steel during processing.

By keeping the workpiece firmly in position, it reduces movement and vibration, resulting in more stable and consistent sanding and deburring.

A magnetic worktable is especially useful for thin, small, or difficult-to-clamp metal parts.

B. OAV Unique Vacuum Worktable

OAV's specially designed vacuum worktable uses a vacuum blower system to securely hold metal sheets and workpieces against the worktable, reducing movement during processing.

It is particularly suitable for thin and lightweight workpieces that are difficult to secure with conventional mechanical clamps.

Unlike magnetic worktables, vacuum clamping does not depend on the magnetic properties of the material. Therefore, it can be used for aluminum, stainless steel, copper, and other non-magnetic materials, provided that an effective vacuum seal can be achieved.
